In 1944, horrible things occurred in the South of Russia and the Caucasus. Whole minorities were packed on trains and shipped away in wartime as traitors. The vast majority of them had taken up arms alongside the Nazis and even formed their own battalions to fight with them, but it was all just Commies Bein' Evil again you know.
The Chechens lost 1/3 of their population, which is a horrible thing, but maybe they should have thought of the consequences of fighting alongside Shitler. 27 million Soviets lay dead for absolutely no reason whatsoever (I guess they spontaneously combusted), since no one ever blames Hitler for that.
