The story of Ricardo Lopez is a very sad one. He grew up in Florida and was remembered well by many of his friends as a kind, sensitive, artistic and intelligent boy.

After high school, he moved out and moved away from home to another state. He always had a weight problem, but it got a lot worse. He got holed up in his apartment all the time, never going out, and his mental health got worse and worse.

He decided that he was in love with the singer Björk, and turned into a stalker. He become one of those obsessed fan types. He made many videos on the Internet in which he was obviously not very stable.

He talked about his love for Björk, how he was in love with her, and also how he wanted to torture and kill her. Why stalkers wish to kill the woman they think they are in love with is not known. He made an acid-spraying bomb and mailed it to Björk, but fortunately it was intercepted before it could do any harm. It later turned out that he was furious at her for dating a Black man.

Before the police could arrest him, he had videotaped his own tragic suicide, blowing his brains out on cam for all to see.

Later it turned out that there were about 20 hours of videotape that he had made documenting his descent into psychopathology, including painting his face green, shaving his head bald, walking around naked showing off his fatass body and his huge moobs, making and testing the acid bomb, and just generally being crazy as fuckall.

The entire 20 hours of tape is apparently available on Internet, possibly for free, possibly for money. It's fascinating to watch if you want to see hours and hours of sheer batshit nuts psychopathology and a man's descent into utter whackery. I'm thinking of getting ahold of the tapes and watching them for the sheer sick fascination of it.

There are sites on the Net about Ricardo Lopez, including testimonials from many people who knew him as a youth. Many expressed deep sadness about his descent, since when they had known him as a boy he had been such a nice person. Something went terribly wrong somewhere with Ricardo Lopez.

Ricardo Lopez is an interesting study in psychopathology. He's clearly not healthy, but I don't have the foggiest idea of what mental disorder to give him, if any. He may not be diagnosable at all, and the best diagnosis may be as it is in many cases: criminal.

This is one Hell of a strange video! This is one of the few videos available of people who have actually committed suicide live on the Internet. Not a lot is known about the victim. This incident occurred very recently, only in the past few weeks, but for some reason, not much has been heard about it. The live suicide occurred on October 13, 2010, only one month ago. The lack of information about the incident is mostly because not much has been written about it in English. Apparently the best write-ups on it were in Swedish.

This is what happened:

A young Swedish man, Marcus Janis, 21, a resident of Soldertaj, south of Stockholm, went to a presumably Swedish language social networking site which has not been named. He set up his video camera, then announced his intention to commit suicide, even listing the various reasons why he was going to do it. Janis lived alone, was lonely, had poor social skills, and suffered from sort of autistic disorder, possibly Aspergers.

Wearing a shirt creepily entitled "Just Do It," he sets up a rope from the ceiling, and then crouches on the floor next to a wall and puts his neck around the rope. Then he pulls on the rope until he dies. The whole thing is over very quickly, only in a few minutes. 100's of users were watching him commit suicide while he was doing it.

The suicide itself is surprisingly banal. The most important even in our lives other than our births is often so banal it is nearly boring. I had never seen someone die before until recently I watched someone die in front of me. I always thought I would be terrified to see such a thing, but when I saw it, it is surprisingly banal, almost boring. I pointed this out to the attended folks and they did not want to hear that.

So it is with this suicide. He puts the rope around his neck, pulls, and quickly his face becomes a very deep red. This is how he dies. There is no struggle or expression as he dies peacefully. After a while, his face changes from deep red to pale white. This means that he is dead. His face is changing to the ghostly paleness of death. The video ends with chaotic footage of police rushing in to the scene, only to find him dead.

Janis published his plans to kill himself on his Facebook site, creepily enough. He also called a friend and told him of his plans. The friend called Janis' sister, who called Janis' home, but there was no answer. They went to the apartment, but they could not get in as the door was locked. The called the authorities, and police came. Emergency services broke down the door and tried to save his life, but their efforts were futile.

Very sad story all around!

This is the infamous Budd Dwyer suicide video. Budd Dwyer was a US politician from the state of Pennsylvania. He was the State Treasurer from 1981 to 1987. During this period, it was discovered that state employees had overpaid a huge amount of federal taxes and as a result, the state's books were a mess.

An accounting firm was called in to figure out how much the state owed each employee. It was later discovered that Dwyer had accepted a bribe so that the firm would be hired. Dwyer was convicted of receiving a $300,000 bribe to hire the firm. He was offered a 5 year prison sentence, but he refused the offer. All along, he maintained that he had been framed.

He went to trial and was convicted. He faced up to 55 years in prison. The day before he was to be sentenced, he called a press conference to offer an update on the situation.

He read a long and strange note, but stopped before the ending. Then he handed out three manila envelopes, one to each of his staffers. One contained a note to his wife, the other contained an organ donor card and the last contained a note to the governor of Pennsylvania. Then he pulled a huge .357 revolver out of the fourth manila folder and said, "Please leave if this is going to offend you."

People began running out of the room and others moved towards Dwyer. People were yelling at him to stop. "Stop! No! Don't do it!"

He then placed the huge weapon in his mouth and pulled the trigger. The bullet went through his brain and exited the back of his skull, puncturing a hole in the wall. He collapsed against the wall and a river of blood began pouring from his mouth.

In 1995, the band Filter wrote a song called, "Hey Man, Nice Shot." They later confirmed that the song had been about the Budd Dwyer public suicide.

The video shows police who have a man in custody in a police station. The man looks Hispanic. He is not handcuffed. He has a slumped, "I don't give a damn" look as he slouches in his chair. The police are moving in and out of the room, saying a few things here and there. The man says nothing.

An officer brings him a cup of coffee and a bottle of water, and then leaves the room. The man removes the cap from the bottle of water and takes two quick gulps. He puts the bottle down and leans his head back against the wall.

Then he reaches into his pants, pulls out a large .45 caliber handgun and shoots himself in the forehead! He slumps over and blood begins pouring out of his head. The cops hear the shot and run to the scene. "Oh fuck!" says one cop.

The incident happened in late December 2004 in San Bernardino County, Southern California, USA. The man who committed suicide was a Guatemalan illegal immigrant named Ricardo Alfonso Cerna, 47, of San Bernardino. Earlier, a San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy named Mike Parnham, 31, had encountered Cerna at the intersection of California and Adams streets in Muscoy, northwest of San Bernardino.

Parnham had tried to pull Cerna's white Nissan over. Cerna refused to pull over, and a 1-minute chase ensued that ended when Cerna jumped a curb and came to a stop. Cerna then leaped out of the car with a gun, shooting at Parnham's patrol car. He hit the windshield, then the hood and kept firing as he ran past Cerna on the driver's side of the vehicle.

This video is seriously crazy! Some people are videotaping the huge concrete dam at Hoover Dam on the Colorado River in Nevada, USA. Suddenly, an lunatic, apparently a young man, commits suicide by throwing himself over the guardrails and down the concrete face of the dam.

It's a long way to the bottom of Hoover Dam from the roadway on top - 726 feet. The fall down the concrete is so rough and brutal that it apparently rips the top of the young man's head off! We can see what appears to be the top of the head fall off and then roll separately down the side of the dam. Afterward, the guy appears to be missing the top of his head. The fall down the dam basically scalped him!

People are screaming and yelling as he falls. Surely this suicide must have been successful; he was clearly killed by the fall down the face of the dam.

This video is really bizarre. A car is on fire by the side of the road, apparently in the US judging by the accents. It's probably somewhere in the northern US, because there is low light out and the area is a deep evergreen forest. We don't know anything about the burning car, how it caught fire or why, if there is anyone inside, nothing.

The people filming are by the side of the road watching the burning car. A fire engine pulls up. A crowd has gathered to watch. At the 20 second mark in the video, suddenly a man, apparently a young White man aged about 18-30, breaks from the crowd, dashes towards the car, dives headfirst into the burning vehicle and vanishes in the flames! The people filming freak out and start yelling about the guy who just dived into the car.

His fate is not known, but he may well have died. Looks like a successful suicide.

J’ai trouvé le dossier de Christine Chubbuck, un autre suicide en public, cette fois d’une présentatrice de journal télévisé pendant son émission (!), c’est particulièrement poignant.

Je n’aime pas diagnostiquer la mort, mais il semble qu’elle ait les symptômes du trouble de la Voilà une bonne vue d’ensemble de la maladie. Je pense que je n’ai jamais rencontré une personne ayant ces symptômes. Le signe principal est une grande susceptibilité au rejet ou au refus. J’ai connu des gens ayant en partie ce symptôme, si on les critique ils semblent sur le point de fondre en larmes, souvent ils se mettent en colère. Et ce sont des adultes, mûrs, de 40 ans. Je pense qu’ils sont des bébés, mais peut-être devrais-je être plus indulgent, car je ne suis moi-même pas tout à fait normal.

Je consultais un psychanalyste dans le temps, à qui j’ai demandé si j’étais un "évitant." Un de mes jeux favoris est le syndrome du patient psychiatrique , il consiste à parcourir le DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Manuel Diagnostic et Statistique des Troubles Mentaux.) en ayant peur d’avoir toutes les maladies du livre. Il m’a répondu que non, parce qu’il m’avait critiqué et que je l’avais bien pris. Il a dit qu’il avait eu 7 ou 8 évitants, et que dès qu’on les critiquait en thérapie ils se levaient et partaient du cabinet pour ne plus jamais revenir. C’est dire la gravité de la chose.

Pour dire la vérité, je ne me soucis guère que les gens m’aiment ou pas, tant qu’ils ne me tournent pas autours. Je serais très content d’avoir de jolies femmes qui viennent par ici tous les jours, me baisent, en prétendant m’aimer, alors qu’elles me détestent profondément. Tant qu’elles prétendent que je leur plait, tout va bien. Peu m’importe ce qui ce passe dans l’âme autrui.

Je ne crains pas non plus d’être rejeté. Au bout d’un million de fois, on s’habitue. J’imagine que si j’étais effrayé par chaque refus essuyé, je serais probablement tout le temps dépressif. On doit s’y faire, tout le monde n’est pas obligé de vous aimer, nous sommes dans un pays libre. De plus, j’ai moi-même rejeté des tas de gens, donc on récolte ce que l’on sème.

Chubbuk semblait être dans un terrible état de régression, presque une enfant lorsqu’elle quittait le boulot, en dépit d’une grande professionnalité au travail. Un cas étrange.

Je n’avais jamais entendu parler du cas Dwyer ou Chubbuck avant internet.

This is an incredible photo and video of James Vance, who tried to blow his brains out with a shotgun but unfortunately was unsuccessful and survived. It seems he put the shotgun under his chin and fired upwards. He lived, but his face is seriously mangled in the worst way. If I had to get up every day and look at that in the mirror, I think I would go back and finish the job once and for all.

On December 23, 1985, just in time for the holidays, Vance and friend Ron Belknap, both seriously depressed teenagers, made a suicide pact. Then they went to the local church playground while loaded on various drugs and shot themselves in the face. Belknap luckily died, but Vance unfortunately lived, having given himself the worst Christmas present anyone could ever get.

Vance spent the next three years undergoing reconstructive surgery and treatment drug abuse and suicidal thoughts. He died in 1988 from complications of surgery and his use of methadone to try to cure himself of opiate addiction. Cause of death was methadone overdose, and it is thought that he may have successfully committed suicide.

His parents sued the rock group Judas Priest for wrongful death claiming that their song lyrics made Vance attempt suicide, but they lost the case.

In the video above, Vance sits at the scene of the suicide attempt and tells what happened on that day.
